Eye Centre Prague is a top private clinic which disposes of cutting-edge technology providing a full range of special ophthalmic services. The same way a fingerprint of each person is unique, your eyes are original. CustomeVue technology determines the optimal surgical procedure for everyone of us. Using WaveScan we can capture the unique map of your vision (it is about 25 times more accurate than the standard test). It is electronically transmitted to the control unit VISX S4 excimer laser. This information allows a very precise and specific refractive surgery.

INFINITI Vision System - A cataract removing device through small incision which allows to emulsify and aspirate lens materials.

This microscope is used in intraocular lens surgery. Möller-Wedel company is primarily known for its prestigious high-quality equipment.

In addition to standard intraocular lenses we implante also in our department a special intraocular lens Softec HD and Softec HDY, which allows a better contrast vision, reduces adverse effects of light and improves night vision. TETRAFLEX accommodative lens is then designed for patients with presbyopia.

In the Eye Center Prague there are working the front ophthalmic surgeons. Here you can get basic information about the medical doctor MUDr. Michal Janek and the chief medical doctor prof. MUDr. Pavel Kuchynka. They both are leading specialists in their field in the Czech Republic and they will take care of your vision, treat cataracts and perform eyelids operations as well as laser vision corrections.

Prim. MUDr. Michal Janek

Prim. MUDr. Michal Janek was born on 21 December 1948 in Slovakia. After secondary school he started to study in the Faculty of Medicine of Charles University in Prague. He finished the university studies in 1975 getting his doctor of medicine degree.  MUDr. Michal Janek got both qualifying certification in ophthalmology. He received the first attestation in 1979 and the second attestation in 1983. Between 1975-1998 was a senior consultant at two district ophthalmology clinics. During that time, MUDr. Michal Janek participated in several national and international scientific work placements for ophthalmologists. In 1998, MUDr. Michal Janek became head physician of private eye microsurgery centre OFTA Pilsen, where he worked as a senior consultant of microsurgery of the eye until mid-2010. During that time, MUDr. Michal Janek became a leading expert in the field of eye microsurgery in the Czech Republic. He is considered within the ophthalmological specialists in the Czech Republic and abroad, to be an initiator of outpatient cataract surgery method. Since the autumn of 2010, MUDr. Michal Janek has been working in the Eye Centre Prague. His entire professional life he dedicated to outpatient method of removing the cataract and refractive eye surgery.

MUDr. Michal Janek is an important figure in the treatment of cataract. Not only in the Czech Republic, MUDr. Janek is considered an initiator and promoter of outpatient cataract surgery method. In 1994-1997 he worked as the scientific secretary of the Czech Ophthalmological Society, in 1998 he co-founded the Czech Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. In 1994-1999, he was the main organizer of the Live Surgery medical congresses held in the Czech Republic. Currently, he is a member of the Czech Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, a member of the editorial board of the scientific periodical magazine Czech ophthalomology and a member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). He carries out a rich lectural and publication activity, national as well as international. He participates in educational programs for young candidates (doctors) of cataract surgery, and lectures for the general public within cultural and educational event

Prim. MUDr. Michal Janek has a national merit in eye microsurgery. He was among the first in the Czech Republic who began to remove the cataract using ultrasonic phacoemulsification, which has been today brought to perfection. Since 1996, he began to operate cataract as an outpatient procedure. Every year MUDr. Michal Janek performs more than 1,000 cataract surgeries, and today, with more than 20 000 cataract operations performed, is among the leading ophthalmologists surgeons in the Czech Republic. He still participates in the Live Surgery congress. In May 2008, MUDr. Michal Janek received in the national medical congress of the Czech Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery the highest award of Czech Ophthalmology ‒ Professor Vanýsek Award for lifetime contribution to the development of implants in ophthalmology in the Czech Republic. In 2010 MUDr. Michal Janek was elected to the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Parliament.

The Head Physician of the Teaching Hospital Kralovske Vinohrady, the Co-founder and Expert Guarantor of the Eye Centre Prague, Inc. The Founder of the Refractive Surgery Centre (ELAS) and the Initiator of the Latest Cataract Surgery Technique, the Facoemulsification Method, in the Czech Republic. The chairman of the Czech Society of Refractive and Cataract Surgery (ČSRKCH), the Member of the Czech Ophthalmological Society, the Only Specialist from the Czech Republic Professionally Respected and Recognized in the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and in the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ESCRS).
