PROCEDURE

Tummy Tuck procedure (Abdominoplasty) modifies abdominal wall after major weight loss or pregnancy. After these dramatic moments in your life abdominal areas do not respond well to diet or exercise as the skin has been stretched. Problems as old scars, loose skin and muscle deformation are solved as part of this surgery. The operation is often combined with liposuction of the hips and upper abdomen to achieve better shape. Tummy tuck surgery is performed under general anaesthesia, and requires 2 - 3 days of hospitalisation. The appearance and the size of the scar depend on the type and the size of the abdomen; scar is mostly hidden below the underwear.

Post Procedure Care

Day after the surgery you should get out of bed early due to prevention of an embolism. Two days after the surgery, the doctor removes the drains. The abdomen is tightened by an elastic belt and cuts are strapped up by patches and sterile gauze to hold in place for 14 days. After two weeks a doctor or patient removes the patches in case patient cannot come for re-bandaging to hospital. The stitches are absorbent so they do not need to be removed. Pressure massages of the scars begin 18 days after the surgery. An elastic belt or elastic clothes are worn for one month after the surgery. The patient maintains relaxed and is having a rest for two weeks, office work is possible afterwards. Sport activities or heavy physical activities are not recommended in period of 4 weeks from surgery.
